A trip to the Sahara will change your life! In order to convince my boyfriend to do this, I chose the more leisurely route 🙂 Whether you are going with a big tour group or a private one like I did, you will experience the same steps we did on a 3 day trek.
The appealing thing about a private tour is that you can spend as long or as little as you want in each stop along the way. We ran into several tour groups at each spot so eventually everyone will get to the same place.
I highly recommend our tour company Go Sahara Tours Sadly, we were not able to go to Fez afterwards otherwise, you have a luxury option available.
It takes two days to reach the bright orange sands of the Sahara. On the first day, the path is through the beautiful Atlas mountains, taddart village, Ait Ben Haddou and Dades Gorge. Each stop was so different! Ait Ben Haddou is where they filmed The Mummy!

The people of the berber villages were so warm and friendly. They welcomed us with open arms and loved telling us stories about their nomadic ways.
Make sure to bring cash for gifts and rugs!
Anticipation to reach the desert! We stopped along the Toudra Gorge, Tinjdad Palm Grove before getting to the dunes around 5.
We ate lunch at the cutest place by the gorge!

Almost to the desert! It started getting really hot by this point
Our berber guide through the desert cooked us a delicious tangine dinner. We feasted, smoked hookah and slept underneath a blanket of stars! Truly, a once in a lifetime experience. So tell me, would you make the trek 😉
